Hunting Snake - a video to illustrate the poem

From Ms Ralston's English Class:
The students had to make a video to demonstrate their understanding of a poem we studied (Hunting Snake by Judith Wright).  This particular student (Lila Duran 9C) did something really original took a lot of effort: instead of sourcing images from the net, she did all her own illustrations.

Great job agent Monterrosa!

When an experiment was titled, ´Mission Impossible´ J.E. Monterrosa (7A) took it on as a top secret challenge, working on his own to produce an experiment write-up which went far beyond the call of duty and producing a top secret document detailing his plan for Enthanol to replace Oil as the fuel of the future.

The report was based on his experiments in investigating the energy outputs in burning fuels, ethanol being one of them. The report was delivered in a 50cm x 45cm ´Spy style´ briefcase labelled ´TOP SECRET´ just like a real spy document and it was smuggled onto the science teachers desk in some way before 7am (J.E. is not allowed to tell you how he did it, that is classified information). What is not classified information however, is it is that the report explores ideas of controlled, independent and dependent variables to a high degree of detail and contains an evaluation and report section which is good enough for IGCSE level. For a piece of homework scored out of 10 he probably deserves...11?  Well done agent Monterrosa -next mission?

Love your teeth!

Students don't always have the time to think about the wider implications of what they are learning. After all there are tests to study for, homework assignments to complete and extra-curricular activities to take part in. Year 9 combined science biology have been learning a lot about human health this term, and that includes a part of the body which is vital for eating and smiling (two of our favourite activities) - our teeth. After reflecting on what they had learned, many students in 9CO3 were concerned about the reported incidence of 'gingivitis' in young people of school going age, and the decision was made to launch a mini-campaign to help other students realize how important their teeth were. This music video, called 'Love your teeth', is the culmination of their ideas. The director was Cristina Sofia Valladares Machuca, the camera man was Kevin Rene Valladares Doño, Edwin Antonio Flores Romero acted as a technician in the shooting, and the creative aspect was shared by the whole class. They had help from Mr Horrocks and Mr Alfaro in the LRC, to come up with a song and to edit the raw footage. Students from 9CO3 biology would like you to watch this fun music video and then reflect about whether you really 'love YOUR teeth?'.

El Lazarillo de Tormes - excellent 5th assembly

It was a delightful play - put on by students from 5th McCall and their Spanish Teacher (Ceci de Siguenza), and choreographed by Raquel Valiente. Thank you to them!
The lines were learned faultlessly, the acting first class, the costumes and the dancing added a great Spanish flamenco feel to the play. Congratulations students!

Grade 11 IB Art - Quilling

"Self portrait of my interior"

In this piece of work my goal was to portray a little from every aspect that defines me. I merged the word "Beneath" with elements that represent family, friends, hobbies, etc.

I chose this word to define that what I displayed were components to show inner aspects that are "beneath" what is visible to everyone.

Gaby Alfonso

11th grade IB SL

Gaby used a technique called quilling or paper filigree.  This is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is glued at the tip and the coil shaped, these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

8th Grade - ME IN A BOX

How do people see me from the outside?
How am l really inside?

The 8th grader's worked on this Art project for 2 weeks; they had all the freedom to use any materials they wanted. It gave them the opportunity to know each other better and to discover how many things they all have in common.
