Grade 11 IB Art - Quilling

"Self portrait of my interior"
In this piece of work my goal was to portray a little from every aspect that defines me. I merged the word "Beneath" with elements that represent family, friends, hobbies, etc.
I chose this word to define that what I displayed were components to show inner aspects that are "beneath" what is visible to everyone.

Gaby used a technique called quilling or paper filigree.  This is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is glued at the tip and the coil shaped, these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

  1. This work should be physically seen in person as, although it looks great here, when you can look closely it is really impressive. Well done Gaby.
